SERE: Survival-Evasion-Resistance-Escape
In 1985 Al Mar put the first of this series of knives on sale to the public. First came a 6" folder with a 4-1/2" blade of AUS-6 weighing 12 oz. While some of the early knives made their way into the SERE program, the vast majority went to those of us who love knives. Those early knives quickly made their way into the back of arms cabinets or into collections while the owners carried lighter knives with better steel. Now from the home of the master, we have a knife that makes much more sense.
The Operator™ is built upon a handsome 5" drop point, saber ground blade of S-30V at 59-61 Rc. With a full tang, the overall length is 10-1/4" and the weight is is only 6 oz. The handle and the sheath are molded of Prylon™. The sheath can be used vertically, horizontally or diagonally on belts, packs or mil gear. This knife is large enough to do the job, tough enough not to fail, and light enough to carry until the job is done.
